Doctor’s and Pilot’s Drug and Alcohol Monitoring Program Success: Why it Shows Extended

There are many professional programs designed to help those in certain professions to obtain the help that they need for drug and alcohol dependency while protecting their identities and their jobs. Outpatient Drug Rehab and alcohol monitoring programs for doctors and pilots have shown increased success over the past few years. One program that was designed particularly for pilots who have drug and alcohol addictions refers the pilot to a treatment facility and offers monitoring after treatment to ensure that there is no relapse period. These programs have shown a nearly one-hundred percent success rate over the past ten years.

Some programs are constantly being upgraded to offer more or better services and to increase the overall success rate for professionals. A monitoring program typically includes toxicology screening regularly as well as self-reporting on many treatment activities. Authorities have determined that the programs available to the general public often seem too narrowly focused on the screening aspect and fail to offer an accurate assessment of the recovery for each individual pilot and/or physician. Of course, there are also ways of passing the monitoring, which typically requires producing a urine sample free from drugs or alcohol. While monitoring seems to work for the general public, many officials feel that it simply is not structured enough to provide the support needed for those in the public eye. Sober coaching is also being used by many doctors and pilots. These coaches provide individual support for their clients for extended periods of time and can be very helpful for professionals who need a more complex solution than merely monitoring.

Monitoring however, has produced significant results in many areas. While there are other options available for Doctor Drug diversion program and pilots, monitoring along with a sober coach can be a very effective solution and help the individual to stay on the path to recovery whereas other options may have failed.
